Pregnancy

Pregnancy is such a beautiful season of life. Creating another human life is something to be enjoyed and not endured. Pregnancy causes many changes in the body that can then cause unwanted symptoms for not only the mom but also for the baby. At Backed by Blackmon, our Doctor of Chiropractic has a certification in the Webster Technique to provide optimal treatment for the mom’s changing body.

How Chiropractic Can Help

Chiropractic is a safe and effective option for treating common conditions that are associated with pregnancy. At Backed by Blackmon, we offer many therapies that can be utilized to decrease the dysfunction in the body that is causing someone unwanted symptoms. We will treat with chiropractic adjustment, soft tissue therapy, and physical rehabilitation; furthermore, one specific treatment for our pregnant moms is the Webster Technique.

All of our treatment options can be found in greater detail on our services page.

The Webster Technique

The Webster Technique is a gentle and specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment that can balance the bones, muscles, and ligaments of the pelvis, reduce nervous system stress, and optimize the mother's pelvic function during pregnancy and birth.

This technique is important because dysfunction in the pelvic region may cause dystocia (a difficult birth). Dystocia can be caused by uterine dysfunction, pelvic contraction or restriction, and/or incorrect baby presentation or position. The use of the Webster Technique to correct the dysfunction of the pelvic region may have a positive effect on the three causes of dystocia which could decrease labor and delivery duration as well as prevent the need for a C-section.

Possible Outcomes of Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy
  • Decreased neck, back, and joint pain

  • Decreased need for a C-section

  • Reduction in labor and delivery times

  • Quicker recovery time post delivery

When Should I See a Chiropractor?

We always recommend that patients come in to see us before the start of their pregnancy journey because chiropractic care has the potential to properly prepare the body for pregnancy by stimulating the nervous system. While we understand that not every one is able to see us before the start of their pregnancy, we are more than happy to serve all of our patients during their pregnancy even if the first time they see us is at 35 weeks pregnant. The earlier the chiropractic care starts, then the higher the chances of experiencing the potential benefits of chiropractic care during pregnancy become.
